CDA Training Approval is for individual trainers who wish to conduct training specific to the requirements for the CDA credential. State approval of CDA courses is not required; however, some trainers desire the option of listing CDA trainings in the Training Calendar and in the CDA publications on the Georgia Early Care and Education Professional Development System's website. To list your CDA Training in the Training Calendar, the training must be state-approved. You must be a state-approved trainer in order to provide state-approved CDA Training.
CDA Trainer Qualifications
Becoming a state-approved CDA trainer is not required to provide training for the CDA credential.
To become a CDA Trainer, you must meet the following requirements:
  1. Must be a Trainer I, II, or III
  2. Current résumé documenting the following (if not already on file with Training Approval):
    • Experience teaching in a child care program
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in training/education in child development and developmentally appropriate practice
    • Taught at least one CDA training course
  3. One letter of recommendation from an individual addressing (1) your skills and abilities for working with young children, and (2) your skills teaching a long-term course (may be a participant from a course)
If you would like to apply to become a CDA Trainer, email a request to be reviewed and the required documentation to Georgia Training Approval at TrainingApproval@georgiacenter.uga.edu.
